Overview
A key aim of CES is to fully establish delivery models and funding for a range of technologies that are practicable, viable, and economic.
Renewable energy sources play a major part in the core aim to deliver cost-effective appropriate energy and technologies to deprived communities. It is vital that the technology employed results in robust, economically sustainable supply at a competitive cost.
However, it is also recognised that there are wider project objectives, including the contribution to rural and urban regeneration.
The selection and deployment of specific renewable energy technology is fully considered before installation. The considerations include capital purchase, installation, operation, maintenance and decommisioning costs over the reasonable working lifetime of the technology. A heating cost equivalent to that of mains gas is theinitial benchmark.
Therefore, all relevant renewable technology is being kept under active review and consideration is given to the full range of such technology on a case-by-case basis, particularly where the specific project funding, aims and circumstances merit such a review.
Regionally based manufacturers and suppliers of renewable energy technology and insulation are, wherever practical, being actively encouraged to engage with CES to stimulate regional economic regeneration.
