Partnership / Delivery partners
Core funding is provided by the DTI Design & Demonstration Unit (DDU) and the Regional Development Agencies, One NorthEast and Yorkshire Forward, with support from the National Grid Affordable Warmth Programme.
The two regions have been chosen as the pilot region for this initiative for a number of compelling reasons, including:
- The fuel poverty status of the North East/Yorkshire & Humberside
- A proven track record and expertise in tackling fuel poverty
- A proven track record in improving domestic energy efficiency
- Regional leadership in developing and promoting renewable energy technology
- The presence of deprived communities with potential to benefit
- The interest and commitment shown by One NorthEast and Yorkshire Forward
Delivery Partners
The actual delivery of the 20 projects will be carried out in each region by third party companies.
CES acts as a project manager and funding provideron each community activity.
All construction, installation and associated technical quality assurance work is contracted out to companies that have been closely examined to ensure best practice, service and value.
CES endeavors to proactively engage and work with all the major potential delivery partners and associated strategic partnerships; EST; Sustainable Energy Centre; Regional Assemblies; New and Renewable Energy Centre (NaREC); Biomass Implementation Group; Groundwork; Renew; The Northern Energy Initiative (TNEI); National Energy Action; Warm Zones Ltd; NE HECA Group; CarbonNeutral; Learning and Skills Council; Regional based technology manufacturers, distributors / suppliers and installers; other commercial aligned organisations, utilities and consultants; Community Renewables Initiative; REALL; academic institutions; voluntary & community groups.
CES:
- Secure funding
- Identify and develop potential projects
- Put together project delivery plans
- Tender for renewables and gas mains extension providers
- Tender for providers for household energy measures (heating, insulation etc)
- Provide (or facilitate the provision of) benefits and energy efficiency advice
- Ensure that quality assurance and performance reviews are carried out
- Report to funding providers and produce a summary model of delivery for wider dissemination
