Communities

Communities should be either:

• A concentrated cluster of 50 or more homes with a multiple deprivation index greater than 25; or
• Dispersed, individual, vunerable and fuel poor homes within specific, clearly defined geographical areas

It is recognised that in rural areas Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) data at ward level may mask localities of much higher deprivation. Local knowledge accessed through the local authority, health sector and other community focussed organisations is utilised to ensure an equitable targeting of communities as far as is reasonably practicable.
