Background
CES (NE) and CES (YH) deliver energy and affordable warmth measures to deprived off gas communities at costs far less than previously obtained, by the extension of the gas mains, delivery of community based renewable energy technologies and a holistic package of heating and insulation measures. These measures are also combined with benefits and energy efficiency advice.
Core funding is provided by the DTI Design & Demonstration Unit and the Regional Development Agencies, One North East and Yorkshire Forward , with support from the National Grid Affordable Warmth Programme.
Both of the companies have developed an integrated, community-based affordable warmth programme in response to the DTI tasking the DDU to find solutions for low income off gas communities in partnership with RDA's. These relationships aim to drive forward a demonstrator project that is geared towards the cost effective integrated delivery of social, environmental and economic energy related objectives.
Once developed fully it is intended that the models of CES North East and CES Yorkshire & Humber will be replicated throughout Great Britain.
